Four Islami Chhatra Shibir activists were held during the half-day hartal called by the party in four districts including Jhenaidah on Sunday.
Sources say, the activists were detained during the hartal hours in Jhenaidah, called by Shibir protesting the killing of one of its activists in Chuadanga on Thursday.
Confirming the matter, Jhenaidah police station officer in charge Kazi Jalal Uddin Ahmed said: “Adequate law enforcers were deployed to ensure strict security following puja and Eid.”
The business establishments remain opened and buses plying on local routes ignoring the hartal.
Businessmen said they started their trade in morning because of Durga Puja and Eid.
Meanwhile, the hartal is underway in Chuadanga, Meherpur and Kushtia.
