A half-day hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami’s student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir is underway in four districts of Khulna division on Sunday.
Shibir called hartal in Chuadanga, Jhenidah, Meherpur and Kushtia, protesting the killing of one of its activists in Chuadanga on Thursday.
The hartal was enforced around 6am and will continue till 2pm in the districts.
Sources, four Shibir activists were detained during the hartal hours in Jhenaidah,
Earlier on Thursday, Shibir activist Rafiqul Islam was killed and two others were injured in a clash with police at Darshana under Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga.
