A Bangladeshi youth was shot and killed by members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on the border with India at Banchouki, Hatibandhaupazila, Lalmonirhaton Saturday morning.
The victim was identified as Shahinur Islam, son of Mohammad Ali, of Amjhol village in the upazila.
Witnesses said BSF troops from theDhumlakhata camp opened fire on Shahinur near pillar 907 when he was returning to Bangladesh with Indian cumin seeds around 9:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.
Akbar Ali, company commander of Lalmonirhat 15 Border Guard Bangladesh Camp, said a letter has been sent to the BSF authorities protesting the killing.
