Update : 12 Oct 2013, 05:39 AM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much-awaited Bahaddarhat flyover in Chittagong on Saturday, terming it an Eid-ul-Azha gift for the people of the port city.

She called on people to vote for the Awami League in the next election for the continuity of development and so unfinished tasks can be accomplished.

“We have been fulfilling the pledges that we made one after another,” she said at a function at Lalkhanbazar after inaugurating the 1.5km long flyover.

Hasina said she had laid the foundation stone of the Bahaddarhat flyover in 2010 and the project had begun in 2011 at a cost of Tk1.45bn.

She said the Bahaddarhat flyover would be named after eminent AL leader MA Mannan while the 5km-long Muradpur-Lalkhanbazar flyover would be named after late AL leader Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr Afsarul Ameen, Industries Minister Dilip Barua, and Forests and Environment Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud were present at the inauguration programme.
