The High Court on Thursday directed the concerned authorities to stop the production and marketing of Royal Tiger Energy Drink for three months.
The bench of Justice Mirza Hussain Haider and Justice Khurshid Alam Khan passed the order considering a writ petition filed by three lawyers, Deputy Attorney General Al-Amin Sarkar told the Dhaka Tribune.
The court also issued a rule asking why it should not direct halting the production and marketing of the drink. The secretaries of commerce, food and home, deputy commissioner of Dhaka, BSTI chairman and AST Beverage Limited have all been asked to reply in three weeks.
Saiful Alam, one of the petitioners, said the petition was filed based on a report of a Bangla daily which states that the brand contains harmful chemicals.
