Two policemen were injured on Thursday morning in a clash with the Islami Chhatra Shibir activists in Jhenaidah town.
Injured Sohan and Sazib were rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital.
The police brought the situation under control by opening six rounds of fire from a shotgun and five rounds of tear shells.
Jhenaidah police station Officer-in-charge Kazi Jalal Uddin Ahmed said: “Shibir activists brought out a rally from Kabi Sukanta Sarak around 9am as a part of their countrywide programme.”
He added: “Police barred them when the procession arrived near Jhenaidah Press Club.”
Later, police fired bullets and tear shells to bring the situation under control when the agitated Shibir activists threw bricks and bats at them.
Sources said Sohan and Sazib sustained injuries when the Shibir men threw bricks and bats at them.
Kazi Jalal said: “Additional police forces were deployed in the town soon after the incident.”
