Hijackers on Wednesday night snatched cash and gold valuables from Naogaon sadar MP in Chowmohoni area under Dhupchachia upazila on Bogra-Noagaon highway.
Hijackers blocked the highway and hijacked MP Abdul Malek while he was returning home with his wife around 10pm.
Sources said the MP was assaulted during the incident but police did not confirm this news.
Dhupchachia police station Officer-in-charge Riaz Uddin said: “Hijackers blocked the highway and hijacked MP and his wife.
They snatched away gold earring from the MP’s wife. She received ear injuries during the incident.”
Meanwhile, they also hijacked two trucks on the highway and snatched money from the drivers.
