The agitating teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) were reportedly locked in a brawl with the Vice Chancellor, Anwar Hossain, on Wednesday afternoon.
Our JU Correspondent reports: “Anwar Hossain was scheduled to attend a syndicate meeting at about 3pm, but the demonstrating teachers stopped him near the meeting room door. At one stage of the quarrel, the VC pushed them from the door and forcibly entered the meeting room.”
The teachers later locked the administrative building protesting the “assault.”
Centering the matter, a group of Chhatra League men rushed in and went on a rampage in the area, where the teachers laid siege. However, they left the place upon facing resistance.
Sources from JU said the BCL men might have a plan to launch an attack on teachers.
Tension was mounted in the area until the report had been filed at about 4pm.
