Police on Thursday noon arrested Nur Mohammad Bhuiya for allegedly attacking a lecturer in Kalkini upazila, Madaripur.

Kalkini police station Officer-in-charge Nazmul Huda confirmed the arrest and said Bhuiya was in jail.

Bhuiya was said to be on the run since September 23 after allegedly attempting to murder Hasanuzzaman, a lecturer of Anderchar Senior Madrasa in the upazila.

An injured Hasanuzzaman was admitted to a local hospital before being moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

A case was filed with Kalkini police on September 24.

Hasanuzzaman‘s family said he had aided the police against Nur Mohammad Bhuiyan earlier.

They alleged that the “notorious” Bhuiya was threatening them into having the case withdrawn.
