A half-day hartal demanding the immediate arrest of the killers of district unit Jatiyatabadi Matshajibi Dal general secretary Aman Ullah Aman passed off peacefully in Satkhira on Wednesday.
No major untoward incident was reported, with most of the shops and business establishments remaining closed in the district town, and no long-route buses operating on the streets.
The hartal was called on Tuesday by Aman Murder Trial Implementation Sangram Committee and all associated bodies of BNP in the district, reports UNB.
Abu ZahidDablu, president of Aman Murder Trial Implementation Sangram Committee, said Aman was chopped to death during a clash between two rival groups of local BNP at a party conference on September 6.
The miscreants were allegedly supporters of Satkhira district unit BNP Chairman Habibul Islam Habib.
Although the victim’s mother filed a case against Habib, the police are yet to make any arrests.
