Border Guard of Bangladesh and Indian Border Security Force as part of confidence building measure are going to organise drills at the Benapole - Petrapole border on a daily basis.
The drill, which will include ceremonial lowering of flags in the evening, will be conducted by BGB and BSF dressed in full regalia.
“It is a part of the confidence building programme and it will be inaugurated in the third or fourth week of this month,” said BGB Director General Aziz Ahmed, adding the drill will be slightly different from the one in Wagah border in Punjab.
Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir and his Indian counterpart Sushilkumar Shinde will inaugurate the programme.
“It will be very friendly and music of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam will be played during the drill. We are planning to build permanent galleries on the both sides of the border so that people can enjoy the drill every day,” the BGB DG said.
