At least two people were killed and three others were injured in two separate road accidents in the city and Hathazari upazila, Chittagong on Monday.
Rina Begum, 30, a resident of Sayed Colony at Hazipara in the city, was killed when a tempo pushed her from back when she was crossing the road in front of Singapore Bangkok Market, Agrabad area around 12:30pm. Rina, in critical condition, was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor pronounced her dead, said Nayek Abul Bashar of CMCH police outpost.
Earlier, a tempo driver, Mohammed Masum, 25, from Ruhullapur of Hathazari upazila in Chittagong, was killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a tempo on Chittagong-Rangamati highway at Charabartol area around 10am, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Md Alamgir of Hathazari police station.
Masum died on the spot while three injured passengers of the auto rickshaw were rushed to CMCH and released after treatment, he said.
