CCC starts demolishing another risky building

Update : 30 Sep 2013, 11:42 AM

A mobile court of the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) started demolishing another risky building in the city’s Laldighi area Monday morning.

The court led by CCC Executive Magistrate Najia Shirin conducted the drive at around 11am evicting the building, said CCC sources.

Magistrate Najia Shirin said the owner of the building was earlier asked to evict and demolish it by September 10. Later, the authority gave him two more weeks to execute the order on the basis of a plea by the owner.

“The authority demolished the building as the owner did not evict it despite the completion of the deadline,” she added.

Najia Said: “Such drives will be continued until all risky buildings are demolished.”

The building named JM Sen Avenue, housed a number of shops, was set up in 1928, said sources.

According to Chittagong Development authority, 64 buildings were announced to be risky in the port city.

CCC authority has started the eviction drive on September 12.

On the first day of the drive, a risky building on PK Sen Road was demolished.
