Former state minister for housing and public works Alamgir Kabir has chosen to ignore the Anti-Corruption Commission notice that asked him to appear before commission on Sunday for quizzing on his alleged involvement in incurring the government a loss of Tk390m while in office.
Commission’s Assistant Director Jatan Kumar Ray on September 23 served a notice to the former state minister asking him to appear at the commission headquarters at Segunbagicha on September 29, but the former state minister did not appear before the commission saying he was ill and requested that the interview be rescheduled to Wednesday, an ACC official said.
The official said with the consent of the former state minister, the ministry officials in August 2006 allocated a piece of land to an association named Dhaka Journalist’s Cooperative Society at a price much lower than the prevailing rates.
By misusing his power, the minister allocated the land and created a loss of over Tk390m for the government, the official said quoting documents on the allegation.
