The government on Wednesday set up a 40- machine garment unit inside the Kashimpur Central Jail part 2 in Gazipur with a view to rehabilitate the prisoners.
Inspector General of Prisons, Brigadier General (Retd) Ashraful Islam Khan, inaugurated the factory.
While inaugurating the factory, he said: “After fulfilling the demands of the inmates, we will sell the products outside. The prisoners will be provided with an amount when they are set free.”
Among others, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons (IG-Prisons) Brig Gen Golam Haider, Senior Jail Super Jahangir Kabir, Jailer Subhash Kumar Ghos and Supers of four units of the jail were present.
