Citizens in the busy city of Dhaka breathed a sigh of relief on Wednesday when the capital experienced mild rain after days of scorching heat and exasperation.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department official Abdur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune they had recorded 3mm of rainfall in the morning.
The rain, caused by monsoon trough, brought down the temperature in the daytime, much to the relief of city dwellers.
The winds will remain for two or three more days, according to the official, and might in turn cause more rainfall.
Wednesday morning's weather bulletin said light-to-moderate rain or thunder showers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, were to be expected in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, as well as some parts of Rajshahi and Rangpur.
