The Ministry of Food has called for an international tender for importing 50,000 tonnes of wheat, the fifth tender notice for the 2103-14 fiscal year.
The closing date for the tender is October 8.
The documents will have to be purchased through a letter of credit (LC) in exchange of non-refundable Tk5,000 or $75.
The ministry has issued a tender notice in this regard on Tuesday. The notice is available on the official website of Directorate General of Food – www.dgfood.gov.bd.
The government has set the wheat import target at 850,000 tonnes for the running 2013-14 fiscal year to ensure the country's food security during the period.
Bangladesh has already signed a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine to import 200,000 tonnes of wheat under the plan.
