The Truck Workers’ Union declared to observe a blockade programme on Dhaka-Dinajpur highway in Bogra for Tuesday, protesting the killing of a truck driver during the Jamaat-e-Islami’s 48-hour countrywide general strike.
Sources said the blockade programme will be observed from 11am till 12pm in Banani crossing area on Tuesday.
The Truck Workers’ Union also demanded the arrest of the 20 accused in this case within seven days.
Confirming the matter on Monday, Bogra Truck Workers’ Union President Abdul Mannan said: “The 20 accused in this case have to be arrested by September 30.”
Police has already arrested 15 accused, including Sherpur upazila Vice Chairman and Jamaat leader Abdul Halim in this connection.
Shamsur Rahman Samsu, 55, one of the victims who were burnt during Jamaat-e-Islami’s 48-hour countrywide general strike, succumbed to his burn injuries at the intensive care unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 3pm on Sunday.
