Three children drowned in a pond at Faridpur under Charghat upazila in Rajshahi on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Sanjida Khatun, 9 and her brother Shovon, children of Azizur Rahman and their cousin Ritu, 9, daughter of Rabiul Islam, reports UNB.
Charghat police station Officer-in-charge Abdur Razzaq said: “Shovon drowned in the pond while playing.”
On the other hand, his sister Sanjida and cousin Ritu slipped into the pond while they were trying to rescue him at 12pm.
Sources said locals recovered the bodies after a frantic search.
On information, police went to the spot.
