Police arrested two Jamaat-e-Islmai leaders on Wednesday morning, for their alleged involvement with the killing of a constable of Harinakundu police station.
The arrested were identified as Mansur Ali, son of Niamat Ali and Helal Uddin, son of Abul Hossain of village Kapashtaia, in Hariankundu upazila.
Harianakundu police station Officer-in-charge Mahibul Islam said the Jamaat leaders were arrested for their alleged involvement with the killing of Constable Gazi Omar Farooque.
Police sources said the arrestees were sent to jail.
Earlier, police had detained some 25 Jamaat and Shibir activist in connection to the matter.
On March 3, Constable Gazi Omar Farooque was chopped and beaten to death by the Jamaat-Shibir activist at Harianakundu upazila municipal area.
Later, a case was filed against 6,000 people, mentioning the names of 220, involved in the killing of the constable.
