Gopalganj district became the Dhaka division champions in the Walton 5th Divisional Karate Championship at the National Sports Council (NSC) gymnasium yesterday.
Gopalganj clinched a total of five gold, two silver and one bronze in the men’s and women’s events to top the chart. Shariyatpur finished second with four gold and Manikganj was third.
Homayra of Shariyatpur and Nisha Alam of Narsingdi were adjudged the best players of the Dhaka division.
Meanwhile, the two-day 4th Japan Cup Karate championship, which is being sponsored by the Japanese Ambassador and organized by the Bangladesh Karate Federation, will get underway at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur today.
