The young people were seen very active in registering for E-TIN on the first day of nationwide Income Tax Fair 2013, which is scheduled to be continued till September 22.
Many of them were receiving information from the booths about the tax payment procedure and filing forms of E-TIN registration while others of different age group approaching to different booths for registering E-TIN as well as submitting tax returns.

“I was waiting to have a TIN number till the day I engaged myself at a job. It is my responsibility to pay taxes to contribute to the country’s economy. So, I came to the fair,” she told the Dhaka Tribune at the event premises.
“The process has been made very easy and E-TIN is very user friendly. The officials are also supporting me to file the registration form.”
Asked why she did not register earlier, Farzana said: “Once I went to one of the zone office last year, but the lengthy procedure and the hassle that I faced on the first day, I was reluctant to have a TIN.”
Like Farzana, there were many young people seen registering for the E-TIN.
Another young man Zarif Bin Hasib, who works at a private NGO, also registered with the income tax process.
While completing his registration, he said: “At the fair, all I need to do is filling up the form and then the officials are doing rest of the works. I am very happy since I could contribute to the country’s economy from today.”
Asked why he feels the need of having a TIN, he said: “I have seen at the newspapers that anyone, who have an annual income of Tk240,000, have to pay the tax. So, I am here to have the TIN and fulfill my duty towards the country.”
NBR officials also praised the participation of young people and said the E-TIN would attract the young people more and would help contribute to the economy, which would boost the revenue collection.
