The country will send Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia under its own management next year, as two new passenger planes will be added in Bangladesh Biman fleet, said Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan on Monday morning.
“All Hajj pilgrims will be able to travel using our own aircrafts from next year. No foreign planes will be required to be rented,” he said.
The minister made the announcement at the inauguration programme for Hajj flights from Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.
He also said one new passenger plane would be included in the country’s air fleet next February and another next March.
“Travellers’ woes over plane fares will be reduced after the addition of these two new planes,” he said.
A total 419 Hajj pilgrims left the port city for Saudi Arabia on Monday by Boeing 777 BG-5033, airport sources said.
