A husband allegedly killed his new bride for dowry in Sahapara area of the Tangail municipality on Sunday around 8:30am.
The victim was Montee Ghosh, 22, hailing from Konabari under Gazipur district. The victim’s brother, Dilip Ghosh alleged that Montee’s husband had choked her to death by pressing her with a pillow. He said Montee had got married to Rony Ghosh just three months ago, and immediately after the marriage he had started demanding dowry.
Rony used to torture his sister regularly, added Dilip.
Abu Obayda Khan, officer-in-charge of Tangail model police station, said the body was sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy. After the incident Rony fled from his house.
