A minor boy was run down by a speeding Rajshahi-bound bus on the Jhenaidah-Jessore highway on Sunday morning.
12-year-old Al Amin, son of Abdul Kader of Jessore, was declared dead on arrival at a local health complex. Another person, identified as Lalchand, was also injured during the collision and is now being treated at the Jessore general hospital.
Police said Al Amin was en route to Jessore from his maternal uncle’s residence in Kaliganj and was waiting, along with other passengers, for a bus at the Raghunathpur bus stand.
Suddenly, a Rajshahi-bound bus of MK Paribahan came out of nowhere and ran into the waiting passengers, leaving Al Amin and Lalchand critically injured.
Doctors at the Kaliganj upazila health complex declared the boy dead, when he was taken there, and referred Lalchand to Jessore for advanced medical care.
