Update : 13 Sep 2013, 02:03 PM

An outfit activist of Purba Bangla Communist Party was slaughtered in Chuadanga on Thursday night.

The deceased was named as Rasel Ali, the 28-year-old son of Abdul Haque of Fatepur village under Harinakundu upazila in Jhenaidah.

Gazi Mohammad Ibrahim, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga police station, said Rasel had left home around 10am on Thursday. The police later recovered his slaughtered body from a field in Kutubpur Daspara village yesterday morning, he added.

The police said Rasel was wanted in two cases: a murder case filed with the Harinakundu police and another case with the Jhenaidah police station.

Mahibul Islam, officer-in-charge of Harinakundu police station, said Rasel had been in hiding for a long time as he was wanted in a number of cases. He might have been killed by his companions concerning intra-party conflicts, he added.

A case was filed with the Chuadanga police station and the body was sent to Chauadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for post mortem examination.
