Police nabbed two alleged robbers with arms and ammunition from the Moijjartek area in Chittagong district early Monday.
The arrestees are Md Yasin, 30 and Selim, 25. Both hail from Banshkhali upazila of the district.
Karnaphuli Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohiuddin Ahmed said they nabbed the duo while they were coming from Banshkhali to the port city on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw around 12am.
“There is a check-post at Moijjartek area and the on-duty police halted the auto-rickshaw as a part of the regular duties,” said the OC, adding: “police found a light gun, a one-barrel gun and two cartridges from their possession after searching the vehicle.”
Mohiuddin Ahmed said: “In the initial interrogation, they confessed about being the members of an inter-district robbery gang. Police are trying to nab other members of the gang.”
Meanwhile, an arms case was lodged with Karnaphuli Police Station in this regard.
