Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked a Rajshahi crowd to give their word that they would vote for the Awami League in the next elections.
She was addressing a mass rally at Baghmara in the district on Thursday afternoon.
“It is because you voted Awami League to power (in the last elections) that Baghmara is now free of terror.”
Hasina said the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami alliance were frauds and that the country would become a save heaven for criminals and extortionists.
The premier blamed opposition BNP and Jamaat for the violence and arson near national mosque Baitul Mukarram during a Hefazat-e-Islam rally on May 5.
She launched an acrid attack at the opposition leader for celebrating her birthday on August 15, a day when the country observes national day of mourning.
“My father and father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was killed on this day along with his family. How can she celebrate her birthday on this day?”
She ended her speech reiterating her hope that Baghmara’s population would vote for the Awami League in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
