Two passengers of a private car were killed in a head-on collision with a drum truck in Naogaon’s Manda area. Two others were injured in the accident.

The accident occurred at around 3:30pm on Monday, on the Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway at Sahapukur.

The deceased were identified as Alvi Rabbani Jihan, 20, son of Enamul Haque from Choudhuripara in Saphahar, and Mahin Ahmed Sagar, 27, son of Abdur Jabbar.

According to local sources, the private car was heading towards Naogaon from Rajshahi.

In the road, it collided head-on with a fast-moving drum truck traveling in the opposite direction from Naogaon to Rajshahi.

The private car was severely damaged and got stuck in a roadside pillar. Both passengers in the car were killed on the spot.

The truck also struck a bus parked behind the private car, but fled the scene. No passengers in the bus were injured.

Local residents said that the dense fog since early morning might have caused the accident.

Manda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mansur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that upon receiving the information, police, along with fire services, retrieved the bodies. After completing legal formalities, the bodies will be handed over to the families.
