One held with excavator in Chittagong

Police nabbed a person red handed who was cutting hills using an excavator in Shapla residential area of Chittagong city early yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Akbarshah police station detained Arif, 22, driver of the excavator, at around 4am, said Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Akbarshah police station.   Police said the hill, owned by Mainuddin and Mohsin, was being cut by Abdul Hannan and Parvez to construct a multi-storied building. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the cutters fled the scene leaving behind Arif. Police also found some handmade tools used for hill cutting, said the OC.   A case was lodged with Akbarshah police station. Police were investigating the matter, added the OC.
