Bangladesh has asked all its citizens to leave Syria in view of escalating violence in the West Asian country.
Amid US claim of chemical weapon use by the Syrian government, Bangladesh, as a party to the Chemical Weapons Convention, on Saturday said it strongly condemns the use of chemical weapons by any party under any circumstances.
Bangladesh sought an amicable solution to all international conflicts through diplomatic and peaceful means, reports UNB.
“Bangladesh believes that resolution of the Syrian crisis with the involvement of all parties concerned should be able to address the aspirations of Syrian people for a peaceful and stable country,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Bangladesh reiterates the need for an immediate resolution of the crisis in Syria to avoid the sufferings of civilians.
The statement said Bangladesh has been closely monitoring the situation in Syria and advised its citizens to leave the country.
Bangladesh would like to emphasise the centrality of the United Nations in resolving the Syrian crisis with immediate cessation of hostilities in Syria, said the statement.
