An article, titled "Dead auction revived for Ollo" published in Dhaka Tribune on July 22, 2013 alleges that Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is in favor for awarding a billion dollars spectrum along with LTE license in the name of Wi-max services under a five year back 'dead' auction, though there is a huge abjection from a commissioner.
BTRC sent a rejoinder on it and claimed it is a wrong statement. Md Abdus Samad, Commissioner (legal and license) of BTRC not object to the commission decision, which is not true.
Two Wi-max operators fully failed to achieve the goal of 'digital Bangladesh'. And with the ICT policy of 2009 BTRC is going for new license of Wi-max.
Our reply
Our report is based on 153th and 154th Commission meeting minutes and the letter BTRC sent to the ministry.
We also depend on the sources who attend the meetings. Sources confirm not only Commissioner Md Abdus Samad, another commissioner also made abjection and disagree with about Bangladesh Internet Exchange Ltd. (BIEL) for awarding a new wi-max license as the auction on 2008 made dead for the company.
Though it is not clear in meeting minutes but there are clues on it. As commissioners objection about it BTRC then went to their legal consultant firm to seek comments.
Though the story also features huge corruption on spectrum BTRC not tell anything on it to their rejoinder.
