Police recovered the bodies of a couple from a residential hotel near Olankar intersection under Pahartali upazila of the port city on Saturday morning, reports UNB.
As per hotel register, the deceased couple were identified as Saiful Islam and Ajeda Begum, both aged 23.
Sources said the couple hailed from Comilla district.
Officer-in-charge of Pahartali Police Station Azizur Rahman said: “Saiful and Ajeda checked in Friday afternoon at New Golden City Hotel.”
The hotel authorities informed police when the attendants got no response from the couple’s room despite repeated attempts around 9:30am.
Police broke into the room and found the hanging body of Saiful from ceiling fan and Ajeda’s body lying in a pool of blood in the bed. The bodies were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
