Three people including a couple were killed and two others injured when an inter-city train hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at the Chandra Rail Crossing in Jamalpur town Friday afternoon, repots BSS.
The deceased were identified as Don Miah, 35, and his wife Akhter Jahan Bithi, 30, of Atbaria Mahmudur village and auto-rickshaw driver Abdur Razzak of Panchpoyla village under Melandah upazila of the district.
Police said the accident took place when a Dewanganj- bound Teesta inter-city train rammed the auto- rickshaw at 1pm when it was passing the level crossing, leaving auto-rickshaw passenger Don dead on the spot and injuring four others.
The injured were whisked off to Jamalpur General Hospital where Bithi and Razzak succumbed to their injuries.
