Six people were killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents in Comilla, Satkhira, Narayanganj and Moulvibazar on Monday.
In Comilla, two people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a pickup at Kalakachua in Burichang upazila in the afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Khalilur Rahman, 20, the pickup helper and son of Habibur Rahman of Katabil area in Sadar upazila, and its passenger Monir Hossain, 28.
Police said the Dhaka-bound bus of S Alam Paribahan collided head-on with the pickup on Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 4, leaving the duo dead on the spot and injuring five people.
The bus plunged into a roadside ditch while the pickup got twisted after the accident.
In Satkhira, a teenage boy was killed and another injured when a truck hit a bicycle on Satkhira-Kaliganj road at Bakol Bridge in Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
The deceased is Mamun, 15, son of Didar Gazi of Laxmidari village in the upazila.
Police said the Munshiganj-bound rice-laden truck from Kushtia hit the bicycle carrying Mamun and Ruhul Amin while they were going to Baro Bazar in the town for selling polythene, leaving Mamun killed on the spot and injured Ruhul.
Police arrested truck driver Shahidul Islam alias Mahsin, 35.
In Moulvibazar, a motorcyclist was killed as a bus crashed into his bike at Shahbandar in Sadar upazila at noon.
The deceased is Abdur Rakib, 54, son of late Arju Mia of Durlabpur village in the upazila.
Police said a Sylhet-bound bus drove into the bike of Rakib while he was going to the district town, leaving him injured.
He was rushed to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
In another incident in Kulaura upazila, Ripon Kumar Paul, 26, son of Balai Palu of Mahishjuri village, was killed when he fell off the roof of a bus at Brahmanbazar at noon.
In Narayanganj, a woman was killed and two people were injured when a truck hit a rickshaw at Nandalalpur in Fatulla in the morning.
The deceased is Rahatun Khatun, 52, wife of late Akter Uddin of Lamapara in Fatullah.
Quoting witnesses, police said Rahatun Khatun died on the spot when a truck hit a rickshaw while she was returning home after collecting VGF rice.
Her relative Sakhina Begum and the unidentified rickshaw-puller were injured in the incident.
