"Tomar Golpe Shobar Eid", a story writing competition, jointly organised by private television channel Boishakhi and Unilever Bangladesh Limited yesterday awarded five "best story writers" from almost 12,000 entries.
The winners were, Touhidur Rahman (Akjon Vodromohila Othoba Mayer Golpo), Rokibul Islam Mukul (Dibbodristy), Md Mojaffar Hossain (Media versus Nobody), Minti Odhikari (Pushing Cell) and Tanvir Mahmood Hasan (Bari Number 45). Their stories have already been adapted into plays, which would be aired by Boishakhi during its 8-day-long Eid special programmes. Each winner also received a cheque of Tk50,000 and a crest from Boishakhi TV CEO Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul at a programme on Monday.
The TV channel, since 2012, has been giving away the award to potential story writers in order to give them a new platform and allow them to live up to their potential.
