The district sadar model police at last filed the Jhuma kidnap case on Monday, 14 days after the abduction of the Meredian-Channel i Khudey Gaanraj first runner-up Jhum Jhum Akter, alias Jhuma, on July 23.
The filing of the case came after the district Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal Judge Enamul Haque ordered the officer-in-charge of the police station to record it.
Jhuma's mother Jesmin alleged that police had been showing reluctance to file the case over the past two weeks.
The lawmen also had not taken any step to rescue Jhuma and arrest the kidnappers, she said.
Jesmin said her daughter was going to her village home of Dattergaon village under Shibpur upazila from the capital's Bashundhara area.
As she reached Tarua in Narsingdi town, Israfil of Badail area of Ashulia in Dhaka and his car driver Faisal waylaid Jhuma and abducted her at gunpoint, she said. After the abduction, she visited the police station several times to file a case but the police refused to accept the case, she added.
