At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups of people over a cricket match in Sylhet on Friday.
Manir Hossain, sub-inspector of Kotwali police station, said residents of Noyapara beat up some children of Bhatalia over a dispute about a cricket match on Friday morning.
When the news spread, a group of Bhatalia residents swooped on some houses at Noyapara and tried to vandalise the office of Abdur Rakib Babul, a former ward councillor, triggering a clash that left 20 people injured.
Of the injured, Babul was admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital while others received first aid.
After being informed, police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.
