Two Bangladeshis, including a student, were arrested by Egyptian police in Cairo, the capital of trouble-stricken Egypt, on charges of violating curfew, said a Bangladesh Foreign Ministry official on Wednesday, reports UNB.
The arrestees were Nasiruddin, a worker, and Belayet, a student, confirmed the Foreign Ministry’s Director General (EP) M Shameem Ahsan.
Quoting the Bangladesh mission in Cairo, the official said, “After ascertaining, the mission informed that the embassy is trying to get them released soon.”
Shameem Ahsan also said another Bangladesh national, M Sayed, a worker, had been injured on August 16. “He’s back home after treatment,” he added.
The mission asked Bangladesh nationals to stay in safe places and minimise their movements.
Egypt’s military-backed government continued a nationwide crackdown on Mohamed Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood that has led to the killing of hundreds of people over the last week.
