The Meteorological Department has advised the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as the low over Northwest Bay persists.
The squally weather may affect North Bay, adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh and the maritime ports, according to a Met office bulletin.
The low lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Bhola, Barisal, Patuakhali, Barguna, Pirozpur, Jhalakathi, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by a wind driven surge of 1-2 feet height above normal astronomical tide.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
