Update : 28 Dec 2023, 06:08 PM

Workers of RMG factory Crossline Knit Fabrics Ltd blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway demanding the payment of two months' worth of salary arrears.

They initiated the road blockade on Thursday morning, prompting a traffic congestion in the area.

According to the protesting workers, about 700 workers of Unit-1 went on strike inside the factory demanding the dues around 10am. Around 12:30pm, the agitated workers left the factory and positioned themselves in the Cherag Ali area of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.

The workers claimed that the monthly calculation is done differently in their factory. The start of the month is counted from the 25th of every month.

As the factory authorities have not paid the salary for the last two months, they stopped working and protested on the highway, they added..

Crossline Knit Fabrics Ltd authority refused to talk to the media in this regard.

Gazipur Industrial Police Assistant Commissioner Mosharf Hossain said: “The workers protested on the highway to demand their dues. After we negotiated with the factory authorities and requested them to promise wages to the workers, the workers moved off the highway.”
