The second death anniversary of renowned film-maker Tareque Masud and cinematographer and broadcast media personality Mishuk Munier is being observed in the country today.
Different socio-cultural organisations have drawn up elaborate programmes to observe the day.
Television channels will air various programmes, including drama, in memory of Tareque Masud and Mishuk Munier.
Film-maker Tareque and Dhaka University teacher Mishuk died in a road accident on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Ghior upazila of Manikganj on August 13, 2011.
Three others were also killed in the accident.
"Matir-Moina" (The Clay Bird, 2002), a critically acclaimed film, made Tareque Masud one of the foremost independent film directors in Bangladesh.
This internationally recognised film director also earned repute by making other films like "Muktir Gaan" (The Song of Freedom, 1995) and "Muktir Kotha" (The Story of Freedom), 1996.
He also made "Ontarjatra" (The Homeland), 2006 and "Runway", 2010.
He was busy screening his works in local areas to revive the film industry as well.
Mishuk Munier was the son of martyred intellectual professor Munier Chowdhury. He was previously a teacher of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Dhaka University.
He also worked as a cameraperson of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Head of Broadcast Operation of Canadian Real Television before joining the ATN News TV channel as the CEO.
