An alleged terrorist was killed in a “shootout” with police at Chandpur village, Damurhuda upazila, Chuadanga early Monday, reports UNB.

Identified as Billal Hossain, 39, police said the deceased was a local terrorist ringleader and a listed criminal of the district. Billal was accused in six cases and carried charges for murder, extortion and robbery.

Police said a patrol team of Darshana police camp had challenged a group of miscreants when they were seen to have gathered in a field in the area around 4am.

The miscreants fired several rounds of bullets targeting the law enforcers, which triggered a gunfight. The gunfight continued for half an hour until the criminals retreated from the area.

After a search, police found the bullet-hit body of Billal lying on the spot. Police also recovered two pistols, two bombs and several rounds of bullets, along with the body.
