Two people killed in road accident in Jhenaidah

The owner of a truck and its driver were killed in a road accident at Charmuraridah near Jhenaidah Cadet College on the Jhenaidah-Kushtia highway Thursday morning.

The deceased were Ayub Hossain, 45, the owner of the truck and son of Fatik Ali hailing from Mollapara in Jessore, and Akkas Ali, 32, who was the driver hailing from Seikhati village of same area. Officer in-Charge Kazi Jalal Uddin Ahmed of Jhenaidah police station said a Jessore-bound truck rammed the stranded sand laden truck on the roadside. After the collision, both Ayub and Akkas died on the spot. Later, fire fighters were able to extract the bodies and send them to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital for autopsy, he added.

The driver of the truck which struck Ayub’s truck managed to flee the scene. A case was filed with Jhenaidah police station regarding the incident, the police said.
