At least two people were killed and 10 others were injured in separate road accidents in Manikganj on Saturday.
The incidents occurred around noon on the Dhaka-Aricha highway. Police said a Dhaka-bound passenger bus of Bikash Paribahan collided head-on with a Shohag Paribahan bus, near the Tapra bus-stand in the Shibalaya upazila of Manikganj. At least one individual died instantly while 10 others suffered minor to major injuries as the Bikash bus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch.
The deceased was identified as Yusuf Ali, 45, son of Nazimuddin Sarder of Nandalalpur village of Rajbari Sadar upazila. The injured were identified as Nafisa Khan, 20, Nurul Amin, 40, Mujahid Hossain, 25, Babul Mia, 56, Billal Hossain, 35, Kamrul Hasan, 26, Bishwajit Saha, 40, Amjad Hossain, 30, Liakat Ali, 45, and Azhar Ali, 36. They were admitted to Shibalaya Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
A case was filed with the Shibalaya police station regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, in another road crash, a motorcyclist was killed on the spot, Saturday noon. The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain, 26, son of Sumon Ali of Bhabanipur village of Shibalaya upazila. Police said Delwar died when he was hit by an unidentified Aricha-bound bus coming in from opposite direction near the Barangail bus-stand under Shibalaya upazila.
