Prominent actor Shahiduzzaman Selim, for this Eid, has directed two TV plays and will appear in many more TV productions. The multitalented star has also become regular on the silver screen, entertaining the audiences with his versatility. Dhaka Tribune recently caught up with the seasoned actor to know about his Eid special ventures and more:
What are you working on for Eid? I am done with all my recent ventures and am busy with post-production. I have directed two Eid special dramas “Shangrila” and “Bhoot Gulo Dakat Holo.” I am directing and acting in the six episode drama “Sangrila,” written by Toukir Ahmed, where mega stars of small screen, Jahid Hasan, Mahfuz Ahmed, Toukir Ahmed, Azizul Hakim, Tareen, Jaya Ahsan and many more acted.
On the other hand, I have worked in Animesh Aich’s “Talkshow Master,” Juboraj Khan’s “Shobuj Je Dana Tobuo Urre Jete Mana,” and some other Eid special dramas directed by Tonmoy Tan Sen, Alvy Ahmed, Redwan Rony and many more.
In Juboraj Khan’s “Shobuj Je Dana Tobuo Urre Jete Mana,” I have acted against Subarna Mostofa. What is your plan after the success of “Chorabali”? Are you considering yourself the next big villain of Dhallywood? I do not want to be perceived as an anti-hero or villain. I want to be an actor first and foremost. Whatever the role is, I want to act according to the character’s demand. I always look on myself as my own competitor and try to improve my work. Rather than continuing with a fixed image, I prefer to act versatile characters. How challenging is it to continue simultaneously as an actor and director of small screen? It’s really very challenging to continue simultaneously as a performer and director. I have to give more effort and be more conscious at all times. Juggling acting along with directing is a taxing job. Are you planning on becoming a director of silver screen too? I want to direct on silver screen, though I don’t have any plan right now. I need more time for this. I enjoy working as a director, but my focus is always on acting. I started my career as an actor and would like to continue like this.
