Citycell, in association with Channel i has organised the “Citycell-Channel i Music Awards” for the 9th time to honour the music artists and talents of the country. The music albums for the “9th Citycell – Channel i Music Awards” has been coming in since yesterday and the competition will continue to receive participating albums till August 20, 2013 at Channel i - 40, Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Sarani, Tejgaon, Dhaka.
The music award is divided into three stages: primary selection, secondary selection and the final selection. The main process of the award program started through asking for entries for audio cassettes, audio CDs and VCDs from individuals and production houses released in 2012. The music related albums released from 1st January to 31st December, 2012 from individuals or production houses will be accepted for this competition.
Inclusive of the category of lifetime achievement awards, the “9th Citycell - Channel i Music Awards” will also be given in 16 categories. The categories are Tagore songs (Rabindra Sangeet), Nazrul songs (Nazrul Geeti), folk songs, modern songs, classical – vocal, classical-instrumental, motion picture sound track, band music, underground band, songwriting, new artist (male/female), sound engineering, cover design, music direction and music video.
Also, the judging of the songs in “CCMA Popular Choice” category will be done by 6 radio stations (Radio Today, Radio Aamar, ABC Radio, Dhaka FM, Peoples Radio and Radio Shadhin). There will be 5 categories in the “9th Citycell – Channel i Music Awards” in Popular Choice. The categories are, band song, modern song, film song, debut song and fusion. Winners in these categories will be selected based on number of votes (through SMS, online voting and letters to radio stations).
