A medicine trader was killed in his shop in front of the Tangail General Hospital in Tangail, yesterday.
The deceased was Kabir Hossain, 25, of Kodhalia municipality area and an owner of a medicine shop named SK Medical in the town, in which he maintained a parallel business of mobile balance recharging [Flexiload].
Imran Hossen, a business partner of Kabir, and also a witness to the incident, said local miscreants Rony and Pavel came to his shop to recharge their mobile phones. They misbehaved with Kabir due to a delay in service. They left the place after an argument and came back with their associates at around 10:30pm. They shot him with a firearm and then hacked at him with sharp weapons. Locals took Kabir to Tangail General Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge of sadar police station Md Nazrul Islam said, upon being informed, police rushed to the spot and found a round of bullet and two bullet casings. The body was sent to the morgue for post mortem analysis and no case was filed, he said.
Tangail district police super Saleh Mohammed Tanvir visited the spot after the incident and assured the relatives of the victim that they would arrest the criminals.
