A different tale of two Pirojpur girls

Update : 24 Jul 2013, 03:59 AM

The father of a girl in Pirojpur filed a case against another girl for kidnapping his daughter, but yesterday when the girls were found in the capital, law enforcers discovered a very different tale.

Lt Col Anisur Rahman, commanding officer of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab 2), told the Dhaka Tribune that Pirojpur police sought their help to find the girls, who were living together in Mohammadpur.

The Rab 2 chief said one of the girls was a Hindu, about 14 years, and a Class X student. The other girl is older, around 21 years, she is a Muslim and a graduation student. He said after the girls were found, they were taken back by Pirojpur police.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Badal Krishna Sarkar of Pirojpur police said the father of the Hindu girl filed a case of kidnapping on July 20 against the Muslim girl.

“After the case was filed, we located them in Dhaka and sought help from Rab 2,” said the SI.

He said the girls met over the phone about six months ago and became involved. They left Pirojpur and came to Dhaka on July 14, where they were living in a rented house.

Both Rab and police officers said the girls claimed to be in love and had no allegations against each other.
