A lawyer was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in Ichhakhali area, Rangunia upazila, Chittagong on Friday.
The deceased, Chandranath Chowdhury, 55, resident of the city’s Hajari Goli area, was a lawyer of the Chittagong court. They were going to attend the funeral of Chandranath’s mother, said a family source.
The injured were Munmun Chowdhury, Chandranath’s daughter-in-law, and Nandini Chowdhury, his granddaughter.
Police said the accident occurred at around 7am when a Chittagong-bound pick-up van and a CNG-run autorickshaw collided head on, leaving the lawyer dead on the spot. The injured were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, said Md Jamal
Uddin, sub-inspector of Rangunia police station. The pick-up van was in police custody while its driver managed to flee, he said.
